SAN DIEGO - San Diego State's student section, "The Show," has been nominated for "Best Under-the-Radar College Basketball Atmosphere" Intersport announced today. The "Under-the-Radar" competition presented by Enterprise Rent-A-Car will use fan voting to select the best collegiate men's basketball game-day atmosphere, which is not as well known nationally.
"The Show" was the first student section to wave giant cutouts of headshots, now a common tradition across the nation in all sports, providing the Aztecs with one of the best home-court advantages in college basketball.
The nine other schools nominated are Dayton, John Brown, Missouri State, New Mexico, North Carolina A&T, Northern Iowa, Taylor University, Utah State and Western Kentucky.
Voting kicks off Monday on the Best of College Basketball Facebook page and will end at 9 a.m. PT on Feb. 15. The school with the most votes will then have an in-depth feature during the GEICO Best of College Basketball special that airs at 12 p.m. PT on March 25 on CBS Sports.
In addition to featuring the "Best Under-the-Radar College Basketball Atmosphere," GEICO Best of College Basketball will relive the season's greatest moments, players and coaches, as well as uncover the top plays of the year as voted on by fans.
