SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's water polo program will jump into the pool for the first time in 2012 on Saturday when it faces a group of former Aztecs in the team's annual alumni game. Admission is free and will take place at Aztec Aquaplex at noon PT.

SDSU, which is coming off its school-record sixth straight 20-win campaign, enters the season ranked eighth nationally in the Collegiate Water Polo Association preseason poll.

The Aztecs return 11 letterwinners from last season's 20-15 squad, including four All-Americans in senior goalkeeper Kelly Campoli, senior two-meter defender Leanne Ford, junior utility Amber Pezzolla and senior utility Meaghan Poland.

SDSU has defeated the Alumni four straight years and last season emerged with the 9-6 decision. The former Aztecs pulled to within one goal (7-6) heading into the final quarter, but the current student-athletes netted a pair of unanswered goals to secure the win.

San Diego State will officially open the 2012 campaign on Jan. 28, when it competes at the Terrapin Invitational in College Park, Md. The Aztecs are set to face Marist and Wagner at 3 p.m. ET and 6:30 p.m. ET, respectively.
