SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's water polo team has been picked to finish seventh in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation preseason poll, the league announced Tuesday morning. The preseason poll is voted on by the MPSF's eight head coaches.

Stanford was picked to win the league with 49 points and seven first-place votes, while California was the early season runner-up with 39 points and one first-place tally. USC (35 points) was tabbed for a third-place finish and found itself above UCLA (34), Arizona State (27), San Jose State (18), SDSU (15) and Hawai'i (7).

The Aztecs return 11 letterwinners and four All-Americans in goalkeeper Kelly Campoli, 2-meter defender Leanne Ford, utility Amber Pezzolla and utility Meaghan Poland. A season ago, SDSU posted its school-record sixth straight 20-win campaign.

San Diego State jumps into the pool on Jan. 21 when it plays its annual Alumni game. The Aztecs will officially start their season on Jan. 28 at the Maryland Invitational.
