SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's tennis team is ranked No. 52 in the preseason ITA poll that was released on Jan. 3. The Intercollegiate Tennis Association is the governing body of collegiate tennis.
The Aztecs finished 15-10 and 6-2 in Mountain West play last year and return six of their seven letterwinners this season in Alicia Aguilar, Laura Antonana Iriarte, Emma Cioffi, Roxanne Ellison, Sierra Ellison and Julia Wais. SDSU, meanwhile, welcomes two new freshmen to its 2012 squad in Kristin Buth and Dora Somoracz.
San Diego State opens its season with a doubleheader on Saturday, Jan. 21, with the first match set for 9 a.m. PT against UC Riverside and the second one scheduled for 4 p.m. PT against Cal State Fullerton. Both matches will be held at the Aztec Tennis Center. Admission is free.
