SAN DIEGO - The second annual Stephen Strasburg 5K Fun Run & Walk will be held on Saturday, Jan. 28, at Tony Gwynn Stadium on the San Diego State campus. The event, a fundraiser to benefit the Aztec baseball program, will feature the former Aztec All-American and current Washington Nationals pitcher along with SDSU Head Coach Tony Gwynn and current players in attendance.
Race check-in/registration begins at 7:00 a.m. at the stadium. The 5K run will get underway at 8:25 a.m. with the walkers scheduled to start at 8:30. Awards will be presented to the top runners in each age group. The course is entirely within the beautiful San Diego State campus and free parking is available in Parking Structure 5 at the corner of Montezuma and 55th Streets.
This family friendly event includes games, food and fun for the entire family. Following the walk/run, activities will include an autograph booth featuring current SDSU baseball players and other local celebrities, music, food and a Kids Fun Zone. (Please note that no memorabilia will be permitted or signed at the autograph booth.)
Prior to Jan. 12, registration for the Strasburg 5K is $35 for adults, $30 for active military, $25 for students and $20 for children ages 4-12. Entry fees for all but students will increase by five dollars after Jan. 12.
Each participant will receive an all-inclusive package containing:
• Hand-Signed, Autographed Stephen Strasburg card for the first 1,500 entrants
• Hand-Signed, Autographed Tony Gwynn card for the first 1,500 entrants
