SAN DIEGO - San Diego State middle blocker Andrea Hannasch has been named to the AVCA all-West Region volleyball team while teammate Johnna Fouch received honorable mention accolades.

Hannasch, who was a 2011 all-Mountain West selection for the second straight year, finished the season ranked among the top 10 in the conference in four categories. The junior from New Braunfels, Texas (New Braunfels HS), was third in blocks (1.17 per set), sixth in points (3.80 per set), eighth in kills (2.94 per set) and ninth in hitting percentage (.307).

In addition to her all-conference accolade, Hannasch also earned MWC Player of the week honors after the first weekend of the 2011 season. She set her single-match career highs this past season in hitting percentage (.765 vs. Boise State, Oct. 15), kills (20 at TCU, Oct. 6) and points (30 at TCU, Oct. 6).

Fouch, a sophomore from Redlands, Calif. (Redlands East Valley HS), was the Mountain West Setter of the Year after leading the league in assists both overall (11.22 per set) and in conference matches (11.84 per set). Her overall assist average ranks 19th in the nation in Division I. Fouch also averaged 2.52 digs per set in league contests along with 0.55 blocks per set and had 11 double-double performances during the recently concluded campaign.

Hannasch and Fouch led San Diego State (18-10 overall) to a 10-4 league record and second-place finish in the final conference standings, its best finish since the 2002 campaign when they also captured second. The team's 18 overall wins were the Aztecs' most since 2003 when they recorded the same number of victories finishing with an 18-14 ledger.
