The San Diego State women's basketball team will play host for the seventh consecutive year to the San Diego Surf `N Slam Classic at Viejas Arena, Dec. 28-30. The Aztecs will begin the event Wednesday by taking on UNCG. The Spartans and the tournament's third team, Penn, play each other Thursday, while SDSU will be back in action Friday against the Quakers. All three contests are slated to begin at 2 p.m. PT.
SDSU is going for its third consecutive victory on Wednesday vs. UNCG and in the process will look to secure Beth Burns' 250th career win as head coach of the Aztecs.

-SDSU Head Coach Beth Burns: Burns (Ohio Wesleyan, 1979) is in the seventh year of her second stint as head coach at San Diego State. She led the Aztecs for eight seasons from 1989 to 1997, before returning in 2005. She has an overall head coaching record of 330-241 in 20 seasons, while she is 249-176 in her 15 campaigns at SDSU.
-UNCG Head Coach Wendy Palmer: Palmer is in her first season at UNCG and owns a head coaching record of 2-8 overall.
-Series History: The Aztecs will take on two first-time opponents at this year's San Diego Surf `N Slam. UNCG will be San Diego State's second meeting vs. a current member of the Southern Conference with the other being a loss to Chattanooga at home back in 2000.
