Pearson Earns Weekly Conference Volleyball Award

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State outside hitter Paije Pearson has earned Mountain West Volleyball Player of the Week honors for matches played from Oct. 31-Nov. 6, 2011. It is the second weekly honor for Pearson in her career.

Pearson, a 6-0 senior from Chandler, Ariz. (Chandler HS), led the Aztecs to two big wins last week that moved SDSU into a tie for second place in the Mountain West standings going into the final week of the regular season. Pearson led the Aztecs with 13 kills in the 3-1 win over New Mexico on Thursday, Nov. 3. She also tied her career-high with four assists in the match to go along with seven digs and five blocks.

In the 3-0 Senior Day win over TCU, Pearson was errorless in her attack with 10 kills on 20 attempts (.500). She also has three assists, a service ace, six digs and four blocks in the match.

For the week, Pearson averaged 3.29 kills, 1.86 digs, 1.29 blocks and 1.00 assists per set, while hitting .354. She averaged 4.07 points per set over seven total sets.

San Diego State wraps up its 2011 Mountain West schedule with a pair of road matches this week beginning with a trip to Idaho to take on Boise on Thursday, Nov. 10, at 7:00 p.m. (MT). The Aztecs will then move on to Colorado Springs to face Air Force on Saturday (Nov. 12) at 5:00 p.m.
