SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State volleyball team moved into a tie for second place in the Mountain West standings with a three-set (30-28, 28-26, 26-24) sweep over visiting TCU on Senior Day Saturday afternoon at Peterson Gym. The Aztecs improved to 15-8 overall and 8-4 in league action, the same record as the Horned Frogs (21-5, 8-4 MW).

Prior to the game, SDSU honored its three seniors Amber Davidson, Paije Pearson and Kyley Sexton. Pearson had a season-high and game-high .500 hitting percentage (10-for-20) and six digs, while Sexton had three digs and two kills in one set of work.

Raegan Shelton had a team-high 14 kills and two aces, while Summer Nash (12 kills) and Andrea Hannasch (11 kills, season-high three aces) also had double-digit kill numbers.

Kristi Jackels recorded a game-high 24 digs and Johnna Fouch chipped in with 46 assists and nine digs for San Diego State, which picked up its seventh three-set sweep of the season

In a competitive match that featured 13 lead changes and 32 ties, the Aztecs rallied from deficits of seven points in the first set, five points in the second set and three points late in the third set for their second win over TCU this year.

In the opening set, SDSU was down 13-6 before rallying back to tie it at 16-16, thanks in part to four consecutive kills by Jackels. It was back and forth the rest of the set, with the Horned Frogs failing to close on four chances and San Diego State on one. A Shelton kill and an attack error by TCU's Sloane Sunstrum ended the first set in favor of the Aztecs at 30-28.

SDSU was down by an 18-13 margin in the second set before storming to five straight points, culminating with an ace by Pearson. Neither team led by two points the rest of the set until a Shelton kill and an attack error by the Horned Frogs gave San Diego State the 28-26 second-set win.

In the third set, the Aztecs jumped out to a 14-9 lead, but TCU responded with an 11-3 run to take a 20-17 lead. Following an SDSU timeout, the hosts scored four straight points to grab a 21-20 led. San Diego State would never trail again, finishing with the 26-24 victory to close out the three-set sweep.

The Aztecs close out their MW regular season next weekend when they travel to Boise State (Nov. 10) and Air Force (Nov. 12).
