AZTECS TO CONCLUDE 2011 CAMPAIGN BY HOSTING TURKEY TIME TOURNAMENT
San Diego State will wrap up its 2011 volleyball season by hosting the four-team Aztec Turkey Time Tournament this weekend. In addition to the Aztecs, other teams competing will include TCU, Pittsburgh and UC Santa Barbara. Each team will play a single match on Friday and Saturday. SDSU and TCU will not meet as they played each other twice during the regular season as members of the Mountain West, Likewise, Pitt and UC Santa Barbara will not face each other either. San Diego State will play UC Santa Barbara on Friday at 7:00 p.m. on Aztec Court and wind up its season with a contest vs. UC Santa Barbara on Saturday (Nov. 26) at the same time. SERIES RECORDS
SDSU's all-time record against UC Santa Barbara stands at 21-19 since the teams first met back in 1978. The teams last faced each other in last season (Sept. 18, 2010) a match that UCSB won in five sets after coming back from a 2-1 deficit. SDSU's last win over the Gauchos came in 2007 in the season opener in a match that the Aztec won in five sets. Prior to that, the Gauchos had won the previous 10 matches going back to 1989.
The Aztecs hold a 3-1 edge in the series against Pittsburgh although the teams have not met since the 1990 season. They first squared off in 1979 with a pair of matches in San Diego State which SDSU won. The Panthers' lone win in the series came in 1990, a five set-set decision at the Midlands Classic in in Syracuse.

BEST FINISH SINCE...
San Diego State's second-place finish in the Mountain West was its best since the 2002 campaign when it ended the league season in the same position. The Aztecs' 10-4 conference record is also its best since that same season when it finished 11-3. It is the first time SDSU has been over the .500 mark in its league record since that same season. The team's 17 total wins is its highest victory total since the 2003 campaign when it went 18-14.

HANNASCH LEADS THE OFFENSE
Junior middle blocker Andrea Hannasch led Aztecs with 15 kills in the match vs. UNLV at last week's Mountain West tournament. She leads the San Diego State offense in kills, blocks and points. She ranks among the top 10 in the Mountain West in each of those categories as well as hitting percentage.

FOUCH ASSISTS
Johnna Fouch had 41 assists in the loss to UNLV last Friday for an average of 13.67 in the match. She also recorded a career-high three solo blocks in that match. She leads the conference in all games with an average of 11.30 assists per set while her final league-match average of 11.84 was the best in the Mountain West by one assist per set. Her overall assist average ranks 22nd in NCAA Division I this week.

HARRIS ON THE BLOCK
Middle blocker Emily Harris has emerged as one of the top blockers in the Mountain West after averaging 1.56 blocks per set over SDSU's last five matches. She is also hitting .467 over the past three contests and her .333 attack percentage for the season leads the team among the regulars. In SDSU's last four matches, she recorded a total of 16 blocks for an average of 1.77 per set. Her overall average of 1.11 blocks per set ranks fifth in the Mountain West while her final mark of 1.20 in league matches was third in the conference stats. Harris set career highs with 15 kills, 19.0 points and a .522 hitting percentage in the win at New Mexico on Oct. 9.

JACKELS DIGGING AWAY
Libero Kristi Jackels led all players with 15 digs (an average of 5.0 per set) against UNLV in SDSU's most recent match on Nov. 18. She recorded a total of 56 digs in the matches vs. New Mexico (Nov. 3) and TCU (Nov. 5) for an average of 8.00 per set over those seven sets. Her 32 digs against New Mexico tied her career high which she set at Brigham Young on Nov. 6, 2010. In SDSU's last five matches she is averaging 5.94 digs per set.

THE RECORD BOOK
A trio of Aztecs have entered the SDSU career record listings this season. Libero Kristi Jackels' 1,321 digs is fourth on the career Aztec top 10. Third place is currently held by Juliana Cezar (1993-96) with 1,369 career digs. Sophomore setter Johnna Fouch has moved into the number-eight spot in career assists with 2,346. Former Aztec Leah Lathrop (2005-08) ranks seventh on the list with 2,624 assists. In addition, Andrea Hannasch is now ninth on the career blocks assists chart with 347. Eighth place is occupied by Shannon Matthews (1988-89) with 358.
