SAN DIEGO - After winning the Jack in the Box Rainbow Wahine Classic title in Honolulu, Hawaii this past weekend, the San Diego State women's basketball team is receiving votes in both national polls this week. The Aztecs garnered 13 votes in the Associated Press Top-25 Poll, released Monday, while they also received one vote in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, which was distributed on Tuesday.
The last time San Diego State received votes in either poll was on Nov. 22, 2010, in the AP Top 25. The Aztecs were last listed in both polls in the 2010-11 preseason.
SDSU began its 2011-12 campaign by going 3-0, including a victory over the 18th-ranked DePaul on Friday. Earlier in the week the Aztecs defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff and also own a victory over Hawai'i. San Diego State was edged 59-58 by Portland on Sunday in the final seconds of the game, bringing its overall record to 3-1.
The Aztecs will next see action against Washington on Saturday, Nov. 26, at Viejas Arena for a tip-off at 1 p.m. PT. The game can be seen locally on Channel 4 San Diego and will be available on tape-delay on The Mtn. on Nov. 27, at 1 p.m and Nov. 28 at 1:30 p.m. PT.
