Three Aztecs Named To All-Conference Volleyball Team

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - San Diego State middle blocker Andrea Hannasch, setter Johnna Fouch and outside hitter Raegan Shelton have been named to the 2011 all-Mountain West volleyball team as selected by the league's eight head coaches. It marks the most Aztecs selected since the 2002 campaign when four SDSU players were so honored.

The trio led San Diego State to a 10-4 league record and second-place finish in the final conference standings, their best finish since the 2002 campaign when they also captured second. The team's 17 overall wins is the Aztecs' most since 2003 when they recorded 18 victories.

Hannasch, who earned all-conference honors for the second straight year, finished the season ranked among the top 10 in the Mountain West match stats in four categories. The junior from New Braunfels, Texas (New Braunfels HS), was second in hitting percentage (.349), fourth in points (3.82 per set), sixth in blocks (1.08 per set) and ninth in kills (3.04 per set).

In addition to her all-conference accolade, she also earned MWC Player of the week honors in after the first weekend of the 2011 season. She set her single-match career highs this past season in hitting percentage (.765 vs. Boise State, Oct. 15), kills (20 at TCU, Oct. 6) and points (30 at TCU, Oct. 6).

Fouch, a sophomore from Redlands, Calif. (Redlands East Valley HS), led the Mountain West in assists both overall (11.22 per set) and in conference matches (11.84 per set). Her overall assist average ranks 23rd in the nation in Division I this week. Fouch also averaged 2.61 digs per set in league contests along with 0.61 blocks per set.

Shelton, a sophomore from Amarillo, Texas (Randall HS), compiled averages of 3.12 kills and 3.49 points per set in Mountain West action, numbers that ranked eighth and ninth respectively in the final league-match statistics. She earned conference player of the week accolades this season after leading the Aztecs to back-to-back road victories at TCU and New Mexico in early October.

San Diego State's second-place league finish earned it the No. 2 seed at this week's Mountain West tournament in Albuquerque and it will begin tourney paly with a match against New Mexico on Friday (Nov. 18) at noon (MT) in the Johnson Center on the New Mexico campus.
