Opening Night
* San Diego State, which is receiving votes in the preseason AP Top-25 Poll, begins its 91st season with a 7:30 p.m. PT game vs. Bryant in game two of the Basketball Travelers Classic. Friday's game is the first between the Aztecs and Bulldogs, who are entering their third season of transition into Division I.
* Friday's game marks the eighth time SDSU has opened the season at home under 13th-year head coach Steve Fisher. The Aztecs are 5-2 in their previous seven home season openers and have won their last two (2008, 2009), both of which were against UC San Diego.
* The Scarlet and Black are 10-2 in season openers under Fisher and have won six in a row. SDSU's last defeat on opening night was against UC Santa Barbara in overtime, 80-72, on Nov. 19, 2004.
* The Aztecs are 58-32 (.644) all-time in the first game of the season. In home season openers, meanwhile, SDSU is 44-13 (.772).
Raise That Banner
* The Aztecs will unveil three new banners inside Viejas Arena. One will recognize SDSU's 2011 Mountain West regular-season championship, another will commemorate San Diego State's MWC tournament title and the last will celebrate the Aztecs' trip to the Sweet 16.
In-Season Events
* The Basketball Travelers Classic represents the seventh straight season in which the Aztecs have participated in a multi-team in-season event.
* The Aztecs have won five straight in these events and 17 of their last 18. Since 2005, SDSU is 18-2 in multi-team in-season events and has gone unbeaten at the 2006 Shamrock Invitational (3-0), 2007 World Vision Classic (3-0), 2008 Great Alaska Shootout (3-0) and 2010 O'Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic (4-0). San Diego State went 2-1 at the 2005 BP Top of the World Classic and 3-1 during the 2009 West Coast Classic.
The Bryant Game
* Friday's game is the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
* The Nov. 11 contest marks the earliest season opener since Nov. 9, 2007, vs. Liberty in Fresno and the earliest home opener in school history, which dates back to 1921-22.
* The game vs. Bryant is a part of the Basketball Travelers Classic. The last time SDSU held an in-season tournament on campus was in 1992 in Peterson Gym (Texaco Star Classic).
* The Aztecs carry a six-game season-opening win streak into the game. SDSU has also won six consecutive home openers.
* SDSU is 10-2 in season openers under Fisher.
