SAN DIEGO - San Diego State men's basketball head coach Steve Fisher announced Wednesday the signing of Matt Shrigley and Skylar Spencer to National Letters of Intent. The duo will be on campus for the 2012-13 campaign and will be freshmen.

A local product from La Costa Canyon High School, Shrigley is a three-star player, according to Rivals. ESPN.com has Shrigley at No. 26 in the region and No. 13 in California. Last season as a junior at LCC, the 6-6, 190-pound small forward averaged 18.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.1 blocks, 1.8 assists and 1.6 steals, while helping his squad to a 29-5 record.

"He's very skilled, very athletic and he will fit how we play," Fisher said of Shrigley. "He can play multiple positions and he's a very good student, an outstanding young man and an exceptional basketball player. So we're thrilled to have Matt, (since he was) recruited by all sorts of people."

Spencer, a four-star player by MaxPreps.com and a three-star athlete by Rivals, meanwhile, is 6-9, 210 pounds out of Price High School in Los Angeles. The power forward is ranked 34th at his position, according to Rivals, and is the No. 124 on the 2012 Rivals 150 list. ESPN.com ranks Spencer as the 41st-best player in region and the 19th-best in the state of California.

"Skylar Spencer fills a tremendous need, he's a big, 6-foot, 9-inch left-hander, he has a high motor and is from Price High School in Los Angeles," Fisher said. "He's also an exceptional athlete and also someone who was highly regarded across the country. He was recruited by multiple Pac-12 teams, and he's an exceptional student and an outstanding young man. He also will bring an ingredient of winning and skill level that will help continue the progress that we've made."
