The San Diego State rowing team will be back in the water this Sunday, Nov. 6, when it travels to Newport Harbor for the Newport Autumn Rowing Festival (NARF). The regatta will draw some of the top teams on the West Coast, including the Aztecs, UCLA, Stanford, Arizona State and USC plus Oklahoma and Gonzaga.
The Newport Autumn Rowing Festival is one of the premier fall rowing events in Southern California. The races cover 2.8 miles (4,500 meters) through Newport Harbor.
The Aztecs have tasted success at previous NARF regattas. SDSU boats have garnered first-place finishes in the Frosh/Novice 8+ (2009), Women's Open 4+ (2008) and Women's Open8+ (2006)
SDSU will send six boats in two different categories at this year's NARF, including three each in the women's open eight and two in the women's frosh/novice eight. The women's open eight will kick things off for the Aztecs at 8:00 a.m. They will be followed by the women's frosh/novice eight at approximately 9:15 a.m.
