SAN DIEGO - San Diego State head basketball coach Beth Burns announced Wednesday that freshman forward Deajanae Scurry will redshirt the upcoming 2011-12 season. Scurry will continue to practice with the Aztecs, but will not compete in any games in her first year on campus.

Scurry, who hails from Los Angeles, Calif., is one of five freshmen on this year's roster. The 6-foot-1 inch forward averaged a double-double at Inglewood High School her senior year and was an all-state pick by Cal-Hi Sports as a junior. She was a four-star recruit and rated 31st nationally at the forward position by the HoopGurlz website.

SDSU will play its lone exhibition game next Monday, as it plays host to UC San Diego beginning at 5 p.m. at Viejas Arena. General admission tickets are only $4.
