SAN DIEGO - Hunter Nicholas of the San Diego State men's tennis team advanced to the final round of the singles consolation draw on Sunday in Malibu, Calif., but was unable to pick up a victory at the USTA/ITA Southwest Regional Championship on the campus of Pepperdine University.
Nicholas started play on Sunday by earning a 6-3, 6-1 victory against UC Riverside's Felix Macherez. In the finals, the Park City, Utah native was unable to find the same success as he was on the wrong end of a 6-4, 6-4 decision to Jean-Charles Diame of Fresno State.
The Aztecs are back in action on Friday as they travel to Las Vegas, Nev. for the Larry Easley Memorial Classic.
