SAN DIEGO -

Singles Draw | Doubles Draw

The San Diego State women's tennis team will play host to the USTA/ITA Southwest Regional Championship this week at Barnes Tennis Center in nearby Point Loma. The regional, which will include doubles and singles action, starts Thursday and finishes on Monday.

The Aztecs are back in action for the second time this fall after competing at their own SDSU Fall Classic I back on Sept. 30-Oct. 2. In the season-opening event, San Diego State claimed the top doubles championship and a singles title.

Entering regional action, SDSU will take a pair of nationally ranked duos into the tournament. Alicia Aguilar and Julia Wais currently own a No. 47 ranking, while the tandem of Sierra Ellison and Roxanne Ellison hold down the 59th position. Aguilar and Wais, who won the Fall Classic I title, are 2-1 this season and handed Ellison-Ellison (2-1) their only loss in the early going, which was in the aforementioned doubles final.

Sophomore Laura Antonana Iriarte is 3-0 so far after claiming the singles crown three weekends ago. Senior Emma Cioffi and freshman Kristin Buth, meanwhile, both carry 2-1 records into this week's action.
