SAN DIEGO - San Diego State sophomore running back Ronnie Hillman has been named the Mountain West co-Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in last Thursday's 41-27 victory over Air Force, the conference office announced Monday. This week marks the second time this season that Hillman has been honored by the league and the fifth time overall in his career.
Hillman, who shared the offensive award with Boise State's Doug Martin, carried 27 times for 172 yards and scored two touchdowns in the Aztecs' first win in Colorado Springs, Colo., since 2004. The La Habra, Calif., native scored twice in the fourth quarter on runs of 22 and 57 yards to give SDSU a 21-point lead with just under nine minutes left in the game. Hillman had five rushes for 10 or more yards and added seven for first downs, while averaging 6.4 yards per carry.
The effort was Hillman's fifth 100-yard rushing game in six outings this season. He now has 11th career 100-yard rushing games in 19 contests, including nine for over 150 yards. The sophomore has scored at least two touchdowns four times in 2011, and is currently ranked second nationally in rushing (138.83 ypg.) and is tied for 13th in scoring (10.0 ppg.).
Hillman previously earned Mountain West honors following the team's victory over Washington State on Sept. 19. He is the Aztecs' first repeat honoree this season.
SDSU has a bye in its schedule this weekend before opening a two-game homestand starting Sat., Oct. 29, against Wyoming at Qualcomm Stadium.
