SAN DIEGO - Thirteen San Diego State football players earned midseason recognition by Phil Steele's College Football Magazine. Phil Steele is one of the nation's most informative preseason football magazines and has always released Preseason, Midseason and Postseason All-America teams as well as all-conference teams.
Three sophomores were named to midseason all-Mountain West offensive first team in running back Ronnie Hillman, wide receiver Colin Lockett and tight end Gavin Escobar. SDSU's three selections tied with Boise State for the most honorees.
The Aztecs had a MW-high five selections land on the all-conference defensive team in senior defensive lineman Jerome Long, senior linebacker Miles Burris and defensive backs Larry Parker, Leon McFadden and Nat Berhe.
Junior offensive lineman Nik Embernate was the lone Aztec named to the midseason all-MW offensive second team. Offensive linemen Alec Johnson and Kurtis Gunther, meanwhile, were named to the third team.
Linebacker Jake Fely garnered third-team defensive honors, while senior punter Brian Stahovich and Lockett earned third-team honors for special teams.
Parker was named to the fourth-team midseason All-America defensive team. Hillman, Long and McFadden, meanwhile, earned midseason All-America honorable mention.
