Aztec Story Lines
- San Diego State returns home on Sunday, Oct. 16, to play host to Boise State in its lone match of the week. The 11 a.m. PT contest is the final home game of 2011 and the Aztecs will honor their senior class prior to kick-off.
- SDSU carries a two-game winning streak into Sunday's Mountain West match-up. The streak ties the Aztecs' longest of the season. Earlier this year, San Diego State defeated Minnesota and No. 4 Portland in consecutive outings back in late August.
- The Aztecs snapped a season-long four-game winless streak last Friday with their convincing 4-0 victory at TCU. Then two days later, San Diego State went into Austin and shut out Texas, 1-0. SDSU's effort marked the first time it has posted two straight shutouts this year.
- San Diego State went 357 minutes, 49 seconds without goal until Sophie Metz scored in the fourth minute at TCU. The four goals in Fort Worth were equal to the amount of goals it had scored in its previous five games combined. The five goals over the weekend, meanwhile, were equal to SDSU's previous six games combined.
- The two road victories were a welcome sight for San Diego State as it entered last week with an 0-2 mark in true road outings. The wins were a step in the right direction considering the Aztecs will close 2011 with three straight on the road.
- For their effort last week, the Mountain West named redshirt sophomore midfielder/defender Sophie Metz its offensive player of the week and redshirt freshman goalkeeper Rachel Boaz its top player on defense. Metz scored the game-winning goals at TCU and Texas, and added an assist vs. the Horned Frogs to finish with five points for the week. Boaz, meanwhile, had a goals-against average of 0.00 and three saves. The goalkeeper also combined with Megan Allaire to blank TCU only to then shut out Texas by herself.
- Freshman Hannah Keane enjoyed her first trip to Fort Worth as she scored a career-high two goals against TCU. The forward scored her fourth and fifth goals of the season in between the Aztecs' first and fourth goals of the game. Keane enters this week's game with five goals and 10 points, both of which are the second-most on the team.
- Haley Locker assisted on the first Hannah Keane goal at TCU, which gave her two for the season. The freshman is now tied for second on the team in assists behind Haley Palmer's four. With the point, Locker is tied for third on the team in points with six. Between Keane and Locker, the two freshmen own the second- and third-most points on the active roster.
- Speaking of assists, Rachael McGlinchy recorded her first of the season when she found Sophie Metz in the fourth minute at TCU. The junior, who was slowed by an injury at the beginning of the season, has started the last four games, played every minute and helped the team go 2-0-1 during that stretch. The point was McGlinchy's first since Sept. 19, 2010, at Oregon State when she logged an assist.
- Sarah Halverson continued her dominance over TCU and her sister, Kristen Halverson. The SDSU junior scored in the 85th minute against the Horned Frogs to give her three goals and two assists in three career games against TCU. In those three games, Halverson and the Aztecs are a perfect 3-0.
- SDSU will look to keep an impressive streak alive on Sunday. The Aztecs are unbeaten in their last eight regular-season outings against league competition. The last time San Diego State suffered a defeat at SDSU Sports Deck during the regular season against an MW club was Oct. 31, 2008, when TCU escaped with a 2-1 victory.
- The Aztecs are 6-1-3 in their last 10 home games against the Mountain West. Earlier this year, SDSU and New Mexico finished in a scoreless double-overtime tie. The lone loss came to No. 18 BYU in the semifinal round of the 2010 Mountain West Conference Championship, which was held at SDSU Sports Deck.
- There is no series history between San Diego State and Boise State as the Aztecs will be meeting the Broncos on the pitch for the first-time ever.
