SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego State men's tennis team wrapped up play at the Aztec Fall Invitational on Sunday at the Aztec Tennis Center.
In doubles action, the duo of Hunter Nicholas and Jose Sierra Short dropped a 9-8 decision to University of Denver's Jens Vorkefeld and Othar Kordsachia. The Aztec duo of Shiva Sangwan and Andranik Khachatryan, meanwhile, were named champions of the black flight doubles bracket. Thorsten Bertsch and Freddy Gelbrich were also named champions, after picking up back-to-back wins in the Aztec flight bracket on Friday and Saturday.
In the black flight singles bracket, Khachatryan defeated Sierra Short to pick up the championship. In the red flight bracket, Gelbrich dropped a 6-1, 6-4 decision to University of Denver's Fred Biasion.
Nicholas, meanwhile, picked up a win in back draw play against University of Denver's Max Krammer.
Next up for the Aztecs is the Battle of the Bay in San Francisco, Calif. from Oct. 14-16.
