SDSU TEAM NOTES
-SDSU falls to 0-7 all-time vs. TCU and sees its win streak vs. non top-25 teams come to an end at eight no matter the venue and seven in contests played at home. The Aztecs also fall for the first time at home in their last five chances.
The Aztec defense has allowed opposing offenses to score no more than one touchdown in the second half of all five contests in 2011. TCU's 10 second-half points (1 TD, 1 FG) are the most SDSU has surrendered in the second half of any game this year. Of the 120 points allowed this year by the defense, only 37 have been scored after the break (also 7 vs. Cal Poly; 6 at Army; 7 vs. WSU; 7 at Michigan).
Interceptions
-With the two first-half interceptions, the Aztecs now have six picks on the year with all six of them coming in a six-quarter span during the Washington State, Michigan and TCU contests. Of the six interceptions this season, five are by SDSU's two starting cornerbacks Larry Parker and Leon McFadden. A year ago, SDSU had 10 interceptions in 13 contests.
Forcing TOs
-The Aztec defense and special teams has forced 16 turnovers (10 fumbles, 6 INTs) on the year with 15 of those coming in the last four contests. In 13 outings last season, the Aztecs only came up with six recovered fumbles and 10 interceptions (16 total forced turnovers).
PLAYER NOTES
Larry Parker, Sr., CB
-Posted his fourth interception of the season in the second quarter. All four of his picks have come in the last three games (over a seven-quarter span). He is the first Aztec to record an interception in three straight games since Vonnie Holmes picked off one in four consecutive contests to start the 2007 campaign.
-Parker has now played a part in forcing seven turnovers in the last three outings (four INTs, two forced fumbles, one recovered fumble). His four interceptions are also the most by an Aztec in a single season since 2007, when both Holmes and cornerback Aaron Moore ended with four apiece.
Jerome Long, Sr., DT
-Jerome Long recorded his second double-figure tackle outing of the season and of his career with a career-best 13 stops. Earlier this year, Long had 10 tackles in the win at Army. The 13 stops are the most by an Aztec in a game this season with the previous high being 10 by Long at Army and Miles Burris at Michigan. The 13 are the most by an SDSU player in a single game since Jerry Milling had 13 vs. BYU in 2009.
Gavin Escobar, So., TE
-Escobar caught his team-best fourth touchdown pass of the season with all four coming at Qualcomm Stadium. Escobar now has eight career touchdown receptions in 18 career outings. He also added a season-long 39-yard catch toward the end of the third quarter.
Chad Young, So., FB
-On his first career catch, logged his first career touchdown in the fourth quarter ... Also logged his first carry of the season and third of his career in the first quarter. The 9-yard effort was the longest of his career.
Ryan Lindley, Sr., QB
-Lindley threw a touchdown for the 15th consecutive outing (76th overall) in the third quarter. Lindley's 15-game streak is the fourth-longest active streak in the nation. He later added his 77th career passing TD and 10th of the season in the fourth quarter.
OTHER NOTES
-SDSU sophomore linebacker Vaness Harris made his first career start, while sophomore warrior Marcus Andrews logged his first start of the year and second of his career on defense. Tonight's game is the first time this season the Aztecs have changed their starting defensive line-up.
-Harris recovered his second career fumble and second of the season in the third quarter on a muffed punt to set up the Aztecs' first TD.
-Aztec junior cornerback Leon McFadden recorded his first interception of the season and fourth of his career in the second quarter. McFadden also broke up a pass to give him seven passes defended in five outings in 2011.
-SDSU linebacker Miles Burris recorded at least a half tackle for a loss in 11 of his last 12 contests. He moved into 10th on the school's all-time chart with 34 career tackles for a loss, passing James Johnson (1983-84). He also added his third sack of the year and 14th of his career in the fourth quarter. Burris also recovered a fumble in the fourth quarter, his second of the year and of his career.
-Aztec sophomore defensive back Rene Siluano forced his first career fumble.
-SDSU punter Brian Stahovich attempted and completed his first career pass and offensive lineman Emilio Rivera made his first career reception in the first quarter.
