SDSU Game Notes vs. TCU in PDF Format
The San Diego State women's basketball team (6-6) opens the 12th season of Mountain West Conference action on Wednesday, as the Aztecs play host to the TCU Horned Frogs at 7 p.m. PT at Viejas Arena.
SDSU dropped its first contest in three years at its annual home tournament, the San Diego Surf `N Slam, last week to one of the best teams in the nation in current No. 7/5 Texas A&M. Despite the loss, the Aztecs still posted a 4-2 record during the month of December and advanced to their third non-conference tournament championship game in as many tries in 2010-11.
Wednesday evening's outing between San Diego State and TCU features the top two schools in this year's Mountain West Conference preseason poll. The Aztecs were second with 147 points and three first-place votes, while the Horned Frogs, the reigning MWC regular-season champs, topped the poll with 174 points and 16 first-place votes.
TCU is 8-6 on the season and is coming off an upset of No. 14 Oklahoma on Sunday in Fort Worth. Three of the Horned Frogs' six losses are to schools ranked in the top 25, including Texas A&M.
San Diego State has won each of the last two meetings between the two sides at Viejas Arena, including a 84-61 rout last February. Wednesday's game will feature a live audio call by Chris Ello, while live stats will also be available on the Aztecs' official website, goaztecs.com.
