SDSU Game Notes vs. New Mexico in PDF Format
The Aztec women's basketball team plays its third consecutive nationally-televised outing Saturday afternoon, when San Diego State returns home to take on New Mexico at Viejas Arena. Tip time in scheduled for 1 p.m. PT and will be broadcast live on CBS College Sports with Brent Stover (play-by-play) and former Aztec guard Tammy Blackburn (analysis) calling the action.
After opening the conference season with two straight home games, SDSU had to hit the road Tuesday to earn its first league victory of 2011, holding off host UNLV, 55-52. The Aztecs built a 12-point lead early in the second half, but the Lady Rebels came all the way back to close to within three with 10 seconds remaining. Luckily, UNLV's 3-point attempt was off target and SDSU grabbed the rebound to secure the win to improve to 7-8 overall.
New Mexico, meanwhile, played Wednesday night at Colorado State, falling to the Rams, 71-60. The Lobos have lost six of their last seven contests after opening the year with five wins in their first seven outings, including a double-overtime victory in Albuquerque over Cal. UNM is ranked last in the league in both scoring offense (60.5 ppg.) and field-goal percentage (33.8).
Entering 2011, the Lobos had been the only Mountain West Conference school to defeat the Aztecs in San Diego since 2008, as they notched a 65-58 win on Feb. 6, 2010, to end SDSU's 14-game MWC home win streak.
Saturday's 43rd all-time meeting between the two foes will feature a live audio call by Chris Ello, as well as live stats on SDSU's official website, goaztecs.com.
