The San Diego State women's tennis squad opens its fall season on Friday as it plays host to the SDSU Fall Classic I at Aztec Tennis Center. The tournament runs through Sunday and features one of the biggest fields in recent memory.
Set to compete in the three-day event is former Mountain West foe Utah, Cal State Northridge, Duke, Houston, Loyola Marymount, New Mexico State, San Diego and the host Aztecs. The season-opening tournament has three doubles draws and six singles brackets.
SDSU enters the competition with a pair of doubles tandems that have earned a preseason ranking from the ITA. Julia Wais and Alicia Aguilar are the 47th-ranked duo, while the team of Roxanne Ellison and Sierra Ellison sit in the 59th slot.
Admission is free and fans are encouraged to park in PS 5 on the corner of 55th Street and Montezuma Road. A $1 per hour permit is required to park in PS 5. Aztec Tennis Center is located just beyond Tony Gwynn Stadium, Aztec Softball Stadium and Aztec Aquaplex on the northwest edge of campus.
