SDSU Cross Country Set For UNLV Invitational

The San Diego State cross country team travels to Sin City to compete in the UNLV Desert Invitational on Saturday. The college/open women's 5,000-meter race, which will be held at Veterans Memorial Park in nearby Boulder City, Nev., is set to kickoff at 9:30 a.m. PT.

The Aztecs will join the host Rebels, Cal State Northridge, Utah, Dixie State, Vanguard and Nevada in the seven-team race.

SDSU is coming off a 26th-place finish at the Stanford Invitational last Saturday. Marianne Hogan led San Diego State for the eighth consecutive race by taking 42nd of 278 runners with a 6K time of 21 minutes, 49 seconds.

Josefine Koskinen (148th, 23:11) and Taylor Johnson (233rd, 24:36) finished No. 2 and No. 3 on the team for the second straight meet, while Hannah Carman (244th, 25:01) and Melissa Wendorf (250th, 25:26) also scored for the Aztecs. Kaitlyn Harrison (256th, 25:43) and Megan Hughes (261st, 26:02) were the sixth and seventh runners for SDSU.

To get to Veterans Memorial Park from the south, take I-15 East, then merge onto the US-93 South. Turn right onto Veteran's Memorial Drive.

Three other races will take place on the day, including the high school girls 5K (8 a.m. PT), the high school boys 5K (8:45 a.m. PT) and the college/open men's 8K (10:15 a.m. PT). Results for all the races will be available on www.unlvrebels.com.
