BREMERTON, Wash. - The No. 6/14 San Diego State men's golf team's season opener has been put on hold until the end of this week, as the Kikkor Golf Husky Invitational was canceled Monday due to rain at the Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash.

The 16-team field, which included five, top-25 squads, was slated to play two rounds on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. Half of the schools, not including San Diego State, will remain in the Pacific Northwest and try to play 18 holes on Tuesday. According to head coach Ryan Donovan, the Aztecs may add a replacement tournament at a later date.

Barring any inclement weather this weekend, SDSU will tee off its 2011 fall schedule when it plays in the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate, Sept. 30-Oct. 1, at the UNM Championship Golf Course in Albuquerque, N.M. The Aztecs are defending champions, rallying for a one-stroke victory over North Texas last season.
