PALO ALTO, Calif. - Marianne Hogan finished 42nd of 278 runners to lead the San Diego State cross country team at the Stanford Invitational Saturday in Palo Alto, Calif.
Hogan completed the 6,000-meter course in 21 minutes, 49 seconds in a race won by Stanford's Kathy Kroeger (20:12). Hogan, who on Tuesday was named the Co-Mountain West Cross Country Athlete of the Week after winning the Aztec Invitational last Saturday, has now led SDSU in eight consecutive races, dating back to last season.
Josefine Koskinen and Taylor Johnson finished 2-3 on the team for the second straight meet, taking 148th (23:11) and 233rd (24:36), respectively.
Hannah Carmen (244th, 25:01) and Melissa Wendorf (250th, 25:26) rounded out San Diego State's top five, while Kaitlyn Harrison (256th, 25:43) and Megan Hughes (261st, 26:02) also raced for the Aztecs.
As a team, SDSU took 26th with 724 points. The host Cardinal won the 32-team invitational with an impressive 24 points.
San Diego State heads to the UNLV Desert Invitational on Saturday (Oct. 1), beginning at 9:30 a.m. PT.
