COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State's Marianne Hogan has been named the Co-Mountain West Cross Country Athlete of the Week, the league announced today. It is the third career weekly honor for the junior.

On Saturday, Hogan won the 67th annual Aztec Invitational at historic Balboa Park in a time of 18 minutes, 21.9 seconds. Hogan easily outdistanced runner-up Erica Capellino of USC (18:27.8) by almost six seconds over the hilly, 5,000-meter cross country course. The 18:21.9, the fourth-fastest time in the MW this season, gave Hogan the win over 71 collegiate runners and four unattached athletes. It was her second career victory (2010 Pomona-Pitzer Invitational).

Hogan's efforts helped SDSU to a fifth-place finish of eight teams in a race won by Biola University. UCLA, USC, UNLV, Point Loma, UC San Diego and San Diego Mesa College also competed in the invitational.

Air Force's Melissa Fuerst also earned a share of the weekly award after finishing second in the 6K run at the Woody Greeno Invitational last weekend in Lincoln, Neb.

San Diego State heads to the Stanford Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 24).
