Aztec Story Lines
- For the first time this season, San Diego State will play just once this week as it is set to play host to UC Santa Barbara on Wednesday, Sept. 21, in a rare mid-week match. Game time is set for 4 p.m. PT at SDSU Sports Deck and admission is free.

- The contest with the Gauchos will be a pre-conference tune-up for the Aztecs as they will begin Mountain West action next Friday, Sept. 30, against New Mexico. The Lobos were picked to finish second behind MW favorites San Diego State in the league's preseason poll.

- Even though Wednesday's contest will be the last before the start of conference play, San Diego State still has two more non-league commitments. The Aztecs will travel to Santa Clara for a Sunday, Oct. 2, showdown and will take on Texas in Austin on Sunday, Oct. 9, two days after playing at TCU.

- San Diego State left the comfortable environment that is SDSU Sports Deck last week and split two matches at the UNLV Nike Invitational in Las Vegas. The Aztecs shut out Hawai'i, 3-0, before falling to Seattle, 3-1.

- On Wednesday, SDSU will be looking to avoid its first losing streak of 2011. In the game following their previous two losses, San Diego State has responded with victories. After losing in overtime at California in the second game of the year, the Aztecs answered with a 2-1 win over Minnesota. Earlier this month, SDSU defeated Columbia, 1-0, after dropping a 1-0 decision to Alabama.

- Hannah Keane scored her third goal of the season in the win over Hawai'i. The game-winner was her first of her career and she now has six points on the season, which is tied for the second most on the team with Tiffany Hurst. Keane's three goals also ranks second on the team behind Cat Walker's six.

- Joining Keane in the scoring column in the Hawai'i game was Megan Jurado, who scored her first two goals of the campaign. The forward's 47th-minute goal was her first since Nov. 3, 2010, against Wyoming at the MWC Championship. The two goals matches the junior's career total entering this season.

- Assisting on the Aztecs' three goals vs. the Rainbow Wahine were sophomores Haley Palmer and Carli Johnson. For Palmer, the 2010 MWC Freshman of the Year, the assist was her third of the season. Johnson, meanwhile, assisted on Keane's goal and Jurado's second to record her first two assists and points of 2011. The helpers also marked Johnson's first two of her career.

- Cat Walker continued her to make her case as the Mountain West's top offensive player after scoring her MW-best sixth goal of the season vs. Seattle. The senior's 26th-minute goal tied the game, but the Aztecs could not muster enough offense to earn the win. Haley Palmer assisted on the goal to raise her season total to a San Diego State- and Mountain West-best four, which is one off her career high.

- Cat Walker leads the Mountain West in a number of statistical categories heading into this week's action. The Folsom, Calif., native ranks first in shots (44), shots per game (4.40), goals (6), goals per game (0.60), points (12) and points per game (1.20). The senior is also tied for second with two game-winning goals.

- The Aztecs rank in the top two in almost every offensive category in the Mountain West. SDSU is first in points (42), goals (15), assists (12) and assists per game (1.20). San Diego State also ranks second in goals per game (1.50) and third in shots (144). The Aztecs have also attempted the second-most corner kicks to date with 47.

- San Diego State is 6-4-1 all-time vs. UC Santa Barbara, but have dropped the last two meetings. The Aztecs, who are winless in their last three outings with the Gauchos, last defeated UCSB on Sept. 29, 2002, in San Diego. This will be the first get-together between the schools since 2007 when UC Santa Barbara escaped with a 2-1 double-overtime victory in Santa Barbara.

- In games played in San Diego, the Aztecs are 5-1 vs. the Gauchos. The last meeting, however, resulted in a 2-0 loss for San Diego State in 2006.
