The San Diego State women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Seattle at the UNLV Nike Invitational on Sunday morning at Peter Johann Field. The Aztecs, who were playing without two-time all-conference performer Megan McQueeny due to injury, slip to 5-3-2 on the season, while the RedHawks improve to 7-3.

Seattle U struck first at the eight minute mark off a free kick by Mary Hill. The defender took the kick and Jordan Salisbury headed the ball past SDSU goalkeeper Rachel Boaz to notch her third goal of the season and to give the RedHawks the early lead.

Later in the first half in the 26th minute, the Aztecs' Haley Palmer took a short cross and found Cat Walker. San Diego State's leading scorer found the back of the net from eight yards out to level the score at 1-1. The goal was Walker's sixth of the year.

After the first half finished with the score knotted at one apiece, the RedHawks pulled ahead in the 60th minute. Taylor Bolibol sent a cross over an Aztec defender and Stephanie Verdoia attempted a shot from 10 yards out and put her attempt just inside the right post.

In the 83rd minute, Seattle put the game out of reach when Megan Daniels scored off a cross from Taylor Ritzman to give the RedHawks a 3-1 cushion and eventually the decision.

Despite the loss, the Aztecs outshot Seattle, 6-5 (5-3 shots on goal), and held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.

San Diego State returns to the pitch on Wednesday, Sept. 21, when it plays host to UC Santa Barbara. Game time at SDSU Sports Deck is set for 4 p.m. PT.
