Sept. 14, 2011

SAN DIEGO - San Diego State fans are encouraged to vote for senior linebacker Miles Burris, senior quarterback Ryan Lindley and sophomore running back Ronnie Hillman, who are all candidates for separate national awards. Burris is among the nominees for the 2011 Butkus Award, while Lindley is in the running for the Davey O'Brien Award. Hillman, meanwhile, is one of 16 in ESPN.com's Heisman vote.

Burris entered 2011 after a breakout season a year ago in which he lead the Mountain West in sacks (9.5) and tackles for a loss (20) and ranked second in forced fumbles (4). The Granite Bay, Calif. native also ranked among the top 20 in the nation in all three of the previous categories and in the top 10 of SDSU's single-season list. He currently has 12 tackles, with two for a loss, a sack and a recovered fumble. Cast your vote before Oct. 24 for Burris by clicking here.

Lindley, meanwhile, is in the process of rewriting the San Diego State record books. The 6-4 signal caller has thrown for five touchdowns in his first two games this season, giving him 72 for his career, which is two more than the previous school record holder (Todd Santos - 70). Lindley also ranks second among the NCAA active leaders in completions (747), yards (9,886), touchdowns (72) and total offense (9,652). Cast your vote before Oct. 23 for Lindley by clicking here.

A year after leading all freshmen running backs with 1,532 yards on the ground, Hillman has picked up where he left off this season. In the Week 2 ESPN.com Heisman Watch, he received a vote and his numbers have warranted this acknowledgment. The La Habra, Calif. native posted his seventh game with at least 150 yards in the home opener against Cal Poly. His 117-yard effort last week at Army made him the first Aztec since 1998 (Larry Ned), to have four straight 100-yard rushing contests. To vote for Hillman, click here.
