Aztec Story Lines
- For the first time in nearly a month, San Diego State will leave America's Finest City and travel to Sin City for a pair of neutral-site games at the UNLV Nike Invitational. The Aztecs will face Hawai'i on Friday, Sept. 16, at 4:30 p.m. PT, before closing out tournament play against Seattle on Sunday, Sept. 18, at 10:30 a.m. PT.
- SDSU heads to Las Vegas after going 1-0-1 last week. The Aztecs received a Cat Walker game-winner in the 18th minute to defeat Columbia, 1-0. Two days later against Long Beach State, San Diego State rallied from a 1-0 deficit as the game ended in a 1-1 double-overtime draw. Hannah Keane scored the equalizing goal in the 70th minute. The goal was the freshman's second of the season.
- The Aztecs are 0-1 this season away from Montezuma Mesa. San Diego State lost in overtime, 2-1, at California in the second game of the season back on Aug. 21.
- San Diego State's .625 winning percentage (4-2-2) is tops in the Mountain West and is the program's best after eight games since 2005 when that squad owned a 5-3 mark. The 2009 MWC championship team and NCAA Tournament participant opened with a 3-3-2 record in its first eight outings.
- Cat Walker's goal against Columbia was her fifth of the campaign and her second game-winner of 2011. Seven of the senior's last nine goals have either won the game for San Diego State or sent the contest into overtime. Of the seven, five have been game-winners and two have forced extra time. Walker's other two goals were against Central Florida in SDSU's 4-4 tie.
- Kory Spotts picked up her first point as an Aztec in the game vs. Long Beach State. The San Diego native, who is new to the team after transferring from UNC Greensboro, found an open Hannah Keane, who eventually scored the game-tying goal with more than 20 minutes left in regulation. The defender is the fifth different Aztec to record an assist and the seventh player to log at least a point this season.
- Cat Walker leads the Mountain West in a number of statistical categories heading into this week's action. The Folsom, Calif., native ranks first in shots (40), shots per game (5.00), goals (5) and goals per game (0.62), and is tied for first in points (10) and game-winning goals (2). Walker is also second in points per game (1.25).
- With two goals each, Hannah Keane, Tiffany Hurst and Haley Locker are in a fourth-place tie among Mountain West players in goals scored. The trio is also in an eighth-place tie in goals per game (0.25).
- Defensively, goalkeeper Rachel Boaz has three shutouts, which is tied for the second-most in the Mountain West and one shy of the league leader. She currently owns the third-best goals-against average of 0.94, while playing the second-most minutes (763:26).
- The Aztecs rank in the top two of every offensive category in the Mountain West. SDSU is first in shots (126) and second in points (30), goals (11) and goals per game (1.38), and tied for second in assists (8) and assists per game (1.00). San Diego State has also attempted the second-most corner kicks to date with 40.
- San Diego State is 5-0 all-time vs. Hawai'i and Friday's meeting is the first between the schools since 2005. SDSU is 3-0 at home and 2-0 in Honolulu. This will be the first neutral-site game in the history of the series.
- The Aztecs won the only match-up with Seattle and it occurred in 2009 at the Aztec Classic. The 2-0 victory was the sixth game in San Diego State's 16-game unbeaten run to the Mountain West championship and to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
