NEW ORLEANS - San Diego State senior outside hitter Paije Pearson and sophomore setter Johnna Fouch were named to the all-tournament team at this weekend's Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Classic in New Orleans. With the tournament cut short due to Tropical Storm Lee, the Aztecs were declared co-champions of the event along with Southern Illinois.

Over the matches against Tulane and William and Mary on Friday, Pearson averaged 2.75 kills, 1.50 digs and 3.12 points per set. She also recorded 0.50 blocks per set.

Fouch, meanwhile, was the tournament's top setter with an average of 10.00 assists per set. She also finished with marks of 0.62 kills and accounted for 0.88 points per set from her setter position.

With the four teams involved were only able to play two matches apiece due to weather conditions and each squad went 1-1 in those contests, a tiebreaker system was sued to determine to Classic winner. Since SDSU did not meet Southern Illinois, the tiebreaker used was each school's set won-loss record. With the Aztec and Salukis finishing 5-3 and Tulane and William & Mary going 3-5, SDSU and SIU were declared tournament co-champions.

San Diego State will take a break from intercollegiate competition next weekend as it hosts its annual Alumni Game next Saturday, Sept. 10, at 5:00 p.m. on Aztec Court in Peterson Gym.
