The San Diego State cross country team released its 2011 schedule, head coach Shelia Burrell announced today.

The Aztecs will compete in four regular season meets before traveling to Fort Collins, Colo., for the Mountain West Championships on Oct. 29.

SDSU kicks off its 2011 slate on Sept. 17 when its hosts the 67th annual Aztec Invitational at Balboa Park. Five races will be contested over the day beginning with the women's open 5,000 (5K) at 8 a.m. PT. San Diego State will compete in the women's invitational 5K at 8:30 a.m. PT, before giving way to the men's races (invitational 8K at 9 a.m. PT and open 8K at 9:30 a.m. PT). A community 5K race will conclude the day's activities at 10 a.m. PT.

The following week, the Aztecs travel to Palo Alto, Calif., for the competitive Stanford Invitational. The 6K race will take place on the Stanford Golf Course, beginning at 11:30 a.m. PT.

On Oct. 1, SDSU takes it talents to Sin City for the UNLV Desert Invitational in Boulder City, Nev. The 5K race, which is scheduled for the Veterans Memorial Park, kicks off at 9:30 a.m. PT.

San Diego State wraps up its regular season the following weekend at the UC San Diego Triton Classic in nearby La Jolla, Calif. The 6K race begins on the North Campus Athletic Fields at 9 a.m. PT.

After a three-week hiatus, the Aztecs begin their championship season on Oct. 29 with the Mountain West championship meet (6K) in Fort Collins, Colo., at 10:45 a.m. MT.

Two weeks later, SDSU will head back to Stanford for the NCAA West Regional Championships. The top team finishers (and individual finishers) in the 6K race will qualify for the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., on the historic LaVern Gibson Championship Course on Nov. 21.
