SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State athletics department has announced today that Channel 4 San Diego will air an hour-long program entitled "A Sweet Season," which recognizes the success of the 2010-11 SDSU men's basketball team. The show will debut on Saturday, Aug. 13, right after the Padres-Reds postgame show at approximately 7:30 p.m. PT.
Fans will have the opportunity to relive an unforgettable season in which the Aztecs were Mountain West regular-season co-champions, won a second consecutive conference tournament championship and finished with a 34-3 record en route to an appearance in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
"A Sweet Season" will provide numerous highlights of the miraculous year, including never-before-seen footage and exclusive interviews. Viewers can experience SDSU's early season upset of No. 11 Gonzaga, the thrilling win at Colorado State, the tough loss to Brigham Young at Viejas Arena and the exhilarating victory vs. Colorado State that clinched a co-conference championship.
Footage of all three exciting Mountain West tournament games will also be incorporated, including the edge-of-your-seat win against UNLV and the blissful victory against BYU to win the title and automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Fans will then view highlights of the sweet run at the NCAA's, which includes the first Division I NCAA Tournament win for the Aztecs against Northern Colorado, the double-overtime thriller against Temple, and the heartbreaking loss to eventual NCAA champion Connecticut in the Round of 16.
SDSU men's basketball season tickets for the upcoming 2011-12 campaign are on sale now and start at just $99. Fans who purchase season tickets will receive one "A Sweet Season" DVD, per account, to commemorate last year's Sweet 16 season.
