SAN DIEGO - San Diego State authorized an Athletic Offer of Aid for Garrett Green, which puts him in line to join the two-time defending Mountain West champions for the 2011-12 campaign. Green is set to step foot on Montezuma Mesa after playing and earning his bachelor's degree from LSU.

"We are very excited about the addition of Garrett Green," two-time national coach of the year Steve Fisher said. "He will be a grad school student, who will bring an academic background along with three years of experience in the SEC.

"Garrett gives us an ingredient we are lacking in - size. He should be an excellent addition and has the athleticism to be an extremely important piece to our 2011-12 season."

The Woodland Hills, Calif., native has one year of eligibility remaining after redshirting in 2008-09 and is eligible immediately. Green is utilizing the NCAA's one-time transfer exception in order to complete his eligibility.

As a junior, Green averaged 6.3 points and 5.1 rebounds in 18.0 minutes, while playing in all 32 games and making five starts. His 2010-11 numbers were a vast improvement over his sophomore campaign when he averaged 2.1 points and 2.5 rebounds in 10.7 minutes. The 6-11 forward played in 30 games and earned the starting assignment 11 times in his second season in Baton Rouge.

Lower back problems sidelined Green in 2008-09, just a season after playing 25 games and averaging 9.6 minutes as a true freshman in 2007-08.

For his career, Green has nine double-figure scoring efforts, all of which occurred last season, including a career-high 18 on 9-of-11 shooting at Auburn. The 2008 SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll member also had a pair of double-doubles in '10-11, going for 15 points and a personal-record 13 rebounds vs. Wichita State, and 10 points and 10 boards vs. Arkansas. He led the Tigers in rebounding eight times a year ago as well.

At Taft High School in Woodland Hills, Green averaged 13 points and nine rebounds for the basketball team, played volleyball and competed in the high jump on Taft's track and field state championship squad.

The Aztecs are coming off a banner season in which they won a school-record 34 games, won their first-ever Division I NCAA postseason game and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. SDSU was ranked in the top 25 all season and earned a program-best ranking of No. 4 during its MWC championship campaign. San Diego State finished the year ranked No. 6 in the Associated Press poll and No. 11 in the ESPN/USA Today rankings.

SDSU men's basketball season tickets for the upcoming 2011-12 campaign are on sale now. Fans are encouraged to act quickly as less than 1,000 chair back seats remain.

Season tickets start at $99 and season ticket holders will receive one Aztec highlight DVD, per account, to commemorate last year's Sweet 16 season.
