SAN DIEGO -
2011 Football Promotional Schedule
The San Diego State athletic department has released the promotional schedule for the 2011 football season, highlighted by the KGB SkyShow on Sept. 17 against Washington State. This will mark the eighth straight year an Aztec football game has played host to the city's largest fireworks display and is annually one of the largest attended sporting events in San Diego.
San Diego State has promotional events in conjunction with seven Saturday home games, the most regular-season home contests for the Aztecs since 1995. In addition to the SkyShow, a Marshall Faulk hat giveaway is scheduled, as well as Homecoming Weekend, Hall of Fame festivities and other events. Season ticket packages start at just $66 and can be purchased online through GoAztecs.com, over the phone by calling (619) 283-7378, or by visiting the Aztec Ticket Office at Qualcomm Stadium's Window "E." The ticket office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
SDSU opens the 2011 campaign at Qualcomm Stadium on Sept. 3 against Cal Poly. The contest against the Mustangs will also coincide with the Welcome Week Student Tailgate.
Following a road game at Army, San Diego State returns to Mission Valley for the KGB SkyShow and a tilt against Washington State. The Sept. 17 game is also designated as Band Night.
The Aztecs host their first Mountain West Conference opponent on Oct. 8, when reigning Rose Bowl champion TCU comes to town. The game against the Horned Frogs is the annual homecoming contest and a hat giveaway is scheduled. The first 28,000 fans in attendance will receive a free Marshall Faulk No. 28 hat, courtesy of Associated Students.
SDSU will continue conference play at home on Oct. 29 against Wyoming. The contest with the Cowboys serves as the annual GEICO Fleet Week Classic and SDSU Family Weekend, with many events scheduled around campus for students and their families. On Nov. 5, the Aztecs will play host to New Mexico and the game will be designated as the Youth Football/Pop Warner Night.
San Diego State will return to Qualcomm Stadium on Nov. 19 to play host to the newest member of the Mountain West, Boise State. The first 20,000 fans in attendance will receive rally towels, courtesy of Associated Students, and there will be a Cheer and Dance Clinic Performance at halftime by the SDSU cheer squad and dance team.
The Aztecs close out the regular season on Dec. 3, and the week leading up to their contest against Fresno State has been tabbed as Rivalry Week. Associated Students has also scheduled another giveaway, as the first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive pom-poms. The game against the Bulldogs will serve as Senior Night and Football Alumni Weekend, as the newest members of the Aztec Hall of Fame presented by the Wise Foundation will be honored during the game.
Fans are encouraged to welcome the San Diego State football squad to The Q at the Warrior Walk two hours prior to kickoff in parking lot F-3. After greeting the team at the Warrior Walk, fans and alumni can visit the Aztec Village in parking lot F-1. The Aztec Village features food and beverages for purchase, live entertainment, as well as performances by the Marching Aztecs, SDSU dance team and cheer squad.
San Diego State single-game tickets for all seven home games are available beginning next Monday, July 18.
