San Diego State's Allison Reaser and Jasmine Burrell will compete at the 2011 USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships this weekend (June 23-25) at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. The top-two finishers in each event will represent the U.S. at the 2011 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships from July 22-24 at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, Fla.

Heading into the championships, both Reaser and Burrell have the top marks in their respective events (and 2010 World Junior Championships standard) by healthy margins. Reaser leads the 22 declared heptathletes (as of 2:14 p.m. PT on June 20) with 5,408 points, 188 more than Wisconsin's Deanna Latham (5,220). Burrell, meanwhile, who redshirted this past season for SDSU, leads the 15 declared discus competitors with her throw of 55.48 meters (182 feet, 0 inches). Jessica Maroszek of Kansas is ranked No. 2 with a mark of 54.21 meters (177-10).

The two-day heptathlon gets underway Thursday (June 23) with the 100-meter hurdles at 10:20 a.m. PT. The high jump (11:20 a.m. PT), shot put (1:10 p.m. PT) and 200 (2:05 p.m. PT) are also scheduled for Thursday, while the long jump (9:40 a.m. PT), javelin throw (10:55 a.m. PT) and the 800 (12:30 p.m. PT) will be contested on Friday (June 24).

At the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on June 9-10, Reaser took 18th of the 24 athletes. Her total of 5,156 points, however, was her lowest total of the season. Reaser, who won both the pentathlon at the MWC indoor championships and the heptathlon at the MWC outdoor championships, accumulated 5,361 points on April 7-8 at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational and 5,408 on May 11-12 at the MWC outdoor championships (No. 6 all-time at San Diego State).

Burrell registered her throw of 182-0 at the San Diego/Imperial USATF Association Championships on June 5 at Point Loma Nazarene. She bested four other athletes with the throw, which would be third in program history had she not been competing unattached.
