SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State softball team received votes in each of the final two national polls, USA Today/NFCA and ESPN.com/USA Softball recently announced.

In the NFCA poll, the Aztecs finished with 13 votes, which tied them with Auburn for 29th, 37 points behind No. 24 Tulsa (50 votes) and DePaul (50) for the top 25. It was the first time SDSU received votes in the USA Today/NFCA poll since March 29 and just the fourth time of the 16 weekly polls (including the preseason poll).

Arizona State, which eliminated San Diego State in the NCAA Tempe Regional, was the consensus No. 1 after winning the Women's College World Series. On the season, the Aztecs played 13 games against 11 opponents in the final USA Today/NFCA top 25, defeating NCAA Super Regional qualifiers Stanford and Houston.

In the USA Softball poll, SDSU had nine votes, which tied Louisville for 30th in the country. The two teams trailed Louisiana-Lafayette's 26 votes for 25th in the final poll. San Diego State last earned votes in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll on April 26. Like the NFCA poll, Arizona State received all of the first-place votes and was the consensus top team in the nation.

The Aztecs finished the 2011 season with a 34-21 record, advancing to their school-record fourth consecutive NCAA tournament. SDSU set six program records in 2011, including slugging percentage (.440), runs (266), doubles (74), home runs (42), RBIs (236) and total bases (630).
