SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State baseball team is set to host the 2011 Mountain West Conference Tournament this week. The tourney runs from Tuesday, May 24, through Saturday, May 28, at Tony Gwynn Stadium, with six of the league's seven teams taking part in the double-elimination format.

SDSU enters tournament play having won six of its last nine contests. This past weekend, the Aztecs captured the series against UNLV after picking up consecutive victories in the final two contests against the Rebels. SDSU cruised to an 11-4 win on Friday and then used eight shutout innings from freshman TJ Kendzora on Saturday to pick up a 6-0 victory.

The fourth-seeded Aztecs begin tournament action on Tuesday with a 7 p.m. PT matchup against No. 5 seed UNLV. Prior to SDSU's contest, No. 3 seed BYU and No. 6 seed New Mexico will face off at 3 p.m. The lowest seed to advance from the first round will then face No. 1 seed TCU, with the highest-seeded winner to square off with No. 2 seed Utah on Wednesday. Tuesday's losing teams will play an elimination game Wednesday morning.

Single-day tickets for the MWC Tournament are available at a cost of $12 for adults and $10 for youth (3-14) and seniors (55+). Those tickets are good for admission to all games on any day of the tourney and may be purchased on the SDSU web site by clicking here, by phone at (619) 283-7378 or in person at Window E at Qualcomm Stadium (M-F, 9am to 5pm). All-session passes, good for admission to all games, are also available. Prices for those tickets are $40 for adults and $30 for youth and seniors.
