TEMPE, Ariz. - The San Diego State softball team gave up four runs (three unearned) in the top of the seventh inning in a 6-1 loss at No. 1/1 Arizona State Sunday in the NCAA Tempe Regional. With the loss, the Aztecs (34-21) were eliminated from the tournament.

Junior Justeen Maeva (San Diego/Mira Mesa HS) had two hits to lead SDSU, including an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning that scored redshirt senior Lindsey Marquez (Tustin, Calif.). Senior Eva Sahatdjian (Fresno, Calif.) and freshman Lorena Klopp (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) also added a hit apiece for San Diego State.

Senior All-American Samantha Beasley (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) took the loss after allowing six runs (three earned) on nine hits and two walks over 6 2/3 innings. She struck out two. Junior Bailey Micetich (Woodland, Calif.) retired the only batter she faced.

San Diego State got two runners on in the fifth (lined into a double play) and again in the sixth (popped out), but were unable to get any runners across the plate.

Katelyn Boyd and Annie Lockwood each homered for the Sun Devils (53-6), who moved onto the NCAA Super Regionals to host No. 16 seed Texas A&M. ASU scored four more runs in the seventh on four hits and an Aztec error that extended the inning.
