TEMPE, Ariz. - Freshman Hayley Miles (Antelope, Calif.) hit a walkoff home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the San Diego State softball team to a 6-4 victory over Long Beach State Saturday night in Tempe, Ariz. With the win and an earlier 5-4 victory over North Dakota State, the Aztecs (34-20) advanced to Sunday's regional final against the host and No. 1 overall seed Arizona State.

SDSU will have to beat the Sun Devils (52-6) twice to advance to its first-ever NCAA Super Regional. The first game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. PT and, if San Diego State wins, the second game will begin around 5 p.m. PT.

Miles' walkoff home run, which also scored redshirt senior Lindsey Marquez (Tustin, Calif.), was her second of the game after she hit a two-out solo homer in the first. She became the fourth Aztec to hit two home runs in a game this season, joining freshman Lorena Klopp (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) (twice), sophomore Kamerin May (Corona, Calif.) and junior Justeen Maeva (San Diego/Mira Mesa HS) (who did it earlier in the win against the Bison (30-27)). Prior to this season, an SDSU player had hit two homers in a game twice in 34 seasons.

Klopp, Maeva and junior Ashley Rose (Antioch, Calif.) also drove in a run for San Diego State.

Junior Bailey Micetich (Woodland, Calif.) (20-12) got the win after allowing one run on three hits and a walk over five innings of relief. Senior All-American Samantha Beasley (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) started the game and gave up three runs on four walks and three hits over four innings.

In the opener, Maeva hit her two home runs, including the game-winning solo one in the top of the sixth to lead the Aztecs to the 5-4 win over North Dakota State. Maeva also hit a three-run homer in the third and, coupled with the second game, gave her five RBIs on the day. Senior Eva Sahatdjian (Fresno, Calif.) also added two hits to pace the SDSU offense.

Beasley (10-7) earned the win for San Diego State after giving up four runs on six hits and three walks over seven innings. She struck out six batters.

The Aztecs will be playing in a regional final for the first time since 2006 (missed out in 2008-10).
