STARKVILLE, Miss. - The San Diego State junior Justeen Maeva (San Diego/Mira Mesa HS) has been named a 2011 second-team Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-West Region selection, the NFCA announced Thursday. It was Maeva's second consecutive second-team selection.

Through 51 games, Maeva is batting .343 with five home runs and 33 RBIs. Maeva, who has started the past 50 games for the Aztecs, also has a .503 slugging percentage and a .417 on-base percentage to go along with eight doubles and a .977 fielding percentage.

Among the single-season school leaders, Maeva is tied for sixth in home runs and tied for ninth in RBIs. Career wise, Maeva ranks second in batting average (.352) and slugging percentage (.520), third in on-base percentage (.415) and tied for 10th in home runs (9).

SDSU earned an at-large bid into the NCAA tournament on Sunday, its fourth straight tournament selection and seventh in 11 years. San Diego State (32-19) plays Long Beach State (37-16) at 2:30 p.m. PT Friday in Tempe, Ariz. The No. 1 overall seed Arizona State (50-6) and North Dakota State (30-25) meet in the other game of the double-elimination regional, beginning at 5 p.m. PT. The entire Tempe Regional will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
