Freshman Lorena Klopp (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) capped a seven-run seventh inning with a three-run homer to lift the San Diego State softball team to a 15-11 come-from-behind victory over Colorado State Saturday in Fort Collins, Colo. The Aztecs (26-14), who are receiving votes in the latest ESPN.com/USA Softball poll, have won 12 consecutive games, 16 of their last 17 and 18 of their last 21.

SDSU battled back from a 9-1 deficit after three innings, a 10-6 deficit after four and an 11-8 deficit going into the final inning. In the decisive final frame, San Diego State scored seven runs on six hits to take its first lead of the game.

Junior Bailey Micetich (Woodland, Calif.) then struck out two and walked one over a scoreless seventh to seal the comeback victory for the Aztecs.

SDSU tied a school-record with 18 hits (last at New Mexico, April 23, 2006), while Klopp homered twice to give San Diego State 28 home runs on the year, breaking the single-season program record of 27 (done over 49 games), set in 2006.

Klopp continued her torrid pace with the two home runs and six RBIs. The two homers tied an Aztec individual game school record (Klopp's done it twice this year), as did the six RBIs (last by Kasey Mytinger at Colorado State on April 13, 2007). Klopp now has homered in four straight games and has 14 on the season, doubling the Erryn Gutjahr's former school record of seven set in 1999. Just a freshman, Klopp is already third on the SDSU career charts, three behind Megan McDonald (2005-08) and Gutjahr's (1996-99) 17.

Freshman Hayley Miles (Antelope, Calif.) had three hits, including a double, scored two runs and had an RBI, while senior Evan Sahatdjian (Fresno, Calif.) was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs. Redshirt senior Lindsey Marquez (Tustin, Calif.) (2-for-5, 2 R, 2B, RBI), senior Jen Wisneski (Riverside, Calif.) (2-for-3, 3 R, 2 BB, RBI), sophomore Kamerin May (Corona, Calif.) (2-for-5, 2 R, 2B) and junior Ashley Rose (Antioch, Calif.) (2-for-3, R, RBI) added two hits apiece. Junior Justeen Maeva (San Diego/Mira Mesa HS) singled, drove in two runs, walked twice and scored a run, while senior Jessica Camello (Temecula, Calif.) reached twice with a single and a walk.

May (3-0) got the win after allowing six runs (four earned) on six hits and two walks over five innings of relief. She struck out four. Senior All-American Samantha Beasley (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) earned the start, but was chased after giving up five runs on five walks and two hits over an inning.

San Diego State wraps up a six-game road trip Sunday against the same Ram (7-29, 0-2 MWC) team, beginning at 1 p.m. MT.
