ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The San Diego State softball team run-ruled New Mexico, 8-0, in five innings for head coach Kathy Van Wyk's 500th career victory Friday night in Albuquerque, N.M. It was the 11th consecutive win for the Aztecs (25-14, 1-0 Mountain West Conference), who are receiving votes in the latest ESPN.com/USA Softball national poll.

Freshman Lorena Klopp (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) homered for the third consecutive game and senior Jen Wisneski (Riverside, Calif.) did so for the second straight contest, while junior Bailey Micetich (Woodland, Calif.) tossed a complete game, five-hit shutout in the circle.

The 11 SDSU hits and solid pitching gave 15th-year head coach Van Wyk a 500-343-1 record and .593 win percentage. The all-time winningest coach in San Diego State history and three-time MWC Coach of the Year, Van Wyk has guided the Aztecs the six NCAA tournament appearances since 2001.

Klopp hit her 12th homer of the year, five more than the previous school single-season record. Wisneski, meanwhile, drove in three runs and extended her career-long hitting streak to 11 games. She is now batting .545 (18-for-33) with four home runs, six doubles, 10 runs and 13 RBIs over that stretch.

Senior Jessica Camello (Temecula, Calif.) was 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI; while sophomore Kamerin May (Corona, Calif.) had two hits, including her fifth double of the season. Sophomore Kristin May (Corona, Calif.) and freshman Hayley Miles (Antelope, Calif.) each drove in a run and scored.

Micetich (13-7) allowed just three hits without a walk over five innings of scoreless ball. She struck out two and now has won eight consecutive contests.

SDSU continues its six-game road trip Saturday at Colorado State, beginning at 3 p.m. MT.
