LA JOLLA, Calif. - Allison Reaser won the 400-meter hurdles and Kelsy Hintz tied for the fourth-best pole vault in school history to pace the San Diego State track and field team on the final day of the UC San Diego Triton Invitational Saturday in La Jolla, Calif.
Reaser won the 400 hurdles in a collegiate-best time of 59.46 seconds. Reaser defeated 27 other competitors and ran the 10th-fastest time in program history.
In the pole vault, Hintz cleared 13 feet, 7 ¼ inches to tie for third of 19 competitors. The mark tied Katie Morgan (2010) for fourth on the school list. Only six athletes had vaulted higher in the NCAA West Region heading into this weekend.
In the 200, Lawreta Ozoh and Shanae Roach each logged top-seven times. Ozoh was third in 23.97, while Roach took seventh in 24.74.
Josefine Koskinen, meanwhile, made her 1,500 debut a good one by covering the metric mile in 4:34.37 to take fourth of 65 competitors. The time is just outside the SDSU top 10 (4:33.19, Renee Ross, 1986).
Other top-10 finishes on the day came from Katie Vo in the pole vault (eighth, 12-01.50), Whitney Ashley in the shot put (eighth, 51-06.50) and Amy Brown in the 800 (10th, 2:17.30).
In relay competition, the team of Roach, Ozoh, Maderia Toatley and Shanieka Thomas took third in 46.05.
San Diego State is scheduled to compete in the prestigious Penn Relays (April 28-30) and the Steve Scott Invitational (April 30-May 1) this weekend in Philadelphia, Pa., and Irvine, Calif., respectively.
