SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's tennis team exerted its dominance over Point Loma Nazarene on a warm, cloudy Thursday afternoon, sweeping the Sea Lions by a score of 7-0.

SDSU jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the contest thanks to victories in all three doubles matches, a habit the Aztecs have gotten used to lately. Including Thursday, the Aztecs have clinched the doubles point in each of their last four matches.

The Scarlet and Black continued their winning ways into singles play with straight-set victories in all six matches, including wins by seniors Giovanni Vaglietti, Andre Feliz and Matthew Tosches. Valgietti secured his match point with a win at the No. 1 position over Point Loma's Joel Myers, 6-3, 6-0, while Feliz wrapped up the No. 3 position by defeating KC Ensley, 6-0, 6-2. Meanwhile, Tosches completed the 7-0 team victory by succeeding at the No. 6 position, beating Michael Zablan, 6-3, 6-2.

With the dual match scoring completed, both teams made their way over to the No. 10 court to watch senior Tim Schulz van Endert wrap up an exhibition victory over Point Loma's Angel Tavera, 6-2, 7-6 (3). It was fitting that Schulz van Endert's match was the last one of the day to be completed, as his absence from Friday's upset of No. 29 San Diego was the reason behind head coach Gene Carswell adding Point Loma to the team's schedule.

Following the victory, Carswell was gracious for his seniors' all-around impact on the program.

"All of our seniors have done great jobs over the course of their careers," said Carswell, "not only for us on the court, but in the classroom, too. I am proud to have been able to witness them mature and I congratulate them as they exit into the real world."

SDSU (6-14; 2-3 Mountain West Conference) will now head out to Las Vegas, Nev., to take on conference foe UNLV on Saturday in the team's regular-season finale.

"This team is starting to get into a winning habit," said Carswell. "We're going to carry the momentum from this win into Las Vegas on Saturday and go from there."
