San Diego State senior Stephanie Arcala (Oceanside, Calif.) and sophomore Christine Wong (Richmond, B.C.) were both named to the Mountain West all-conference women's golf team Saturday at the conclusion of the 2011 league championships at the par-72, 6,408-yard Wigwam Golf Course. Wong, who was the conference freshman of the year last season, becomes the first Aztec to ever be named a two-time all-MWC selection, while it is the first such honor of Arcala's career.

In the final team standings, the Aztecs placed fifth for the second year in a row at 23-over 887, despite having all five golfers post or match their best 18 holes of the three-day event. SDSU fired a final-round 2-over 290, which was six strokes better than its second-round total, but not enough to edge out New Mexico (884) for fourth place. The Aztecs' 54-hole score of 887, however, tied as the second-best in a conference tournament in program history.

While Arcala and Wong were recognized for their accomplishments during the entire season, it was sophomore Gina Clark (Murrieta, Calif.) who recorded the squad's best finish of the MWC championships in 11th with a 4-over 220. Clark fired the team's only sub-par round this week with her 1-under 71, highlighted by three birdies and only two bogeys. A year ago, she placed 29th on the individual leaderboard with a 29-over 245.

Wong, meanwhile, moved up the individual standings for the second day in a row, settling in a tie for 17th place with her final-round 72, which included two birdies and two bogeys. Teammate Alessia Knight (Bologna, Italy) matched Wong's 7-over 223 to log both her best finish and lowest total by two strokes of her one-year Aztec career.

After posting consecutive 75s, SDSU junior Malin Enarsson (Gothenburg, Sweden) did one better with her 2-over 74 to tie for 20th place with a 224. Arcala rounded out the group in a tie for 22nd place with a 9-over 225, including a 74 over the final 18 holes.

TCU staged a huge rally, erasing a three-stroke deficit with the best round by any team in the tournament at 4-under 284, to claim their second MWC title and first since 2007. The Horned Frogs, who were the highest ranked squad entering the week, ended up with a 1-over 865, five strokes better than UNLV, which held the lead through the first two days.

The Rebels didn't go away empty handed, however, as league player of the year Therese Koelbaek posted a final-round 68 to win by four strokes at 7-under 209.

San Diego State will learn if it earned its second consecutive trip to the NCAA regional round when the postseason bids are announced on April 25.
